Dr. Gilg is originally from Newport, Nebraska, but he calls Des Moines home after beginning his career in rheumatology here in 1993.

• Dr. Gilg graduated from the University of Nebraska with undergraduate and medical degrees.
• He went on to earn his internal medicine specialty after a residency at the University of Nebraska in Omaha and later completed his rheumatology training at the University of Missouri Medical School.
• He is board certified in Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the Rheumatology Association of Iowa.
• He is certified by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.
• Dr. Gilg is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is also an adjunct faculty member for the Mercy Residency program.

In his spare time, Dr. Gilg enjoys spending time with family.
