Dr. Lawrence Rettenmaier calls Iowa Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center his second home and his patients are thankful for that long-standing commitment to them. Dr. Rettenmaier has been providing rheumatology service in the Des Moines area since 1989.

• Dr. Rettenmaier can also look to two of Iowa’s state university for his education start; earning his bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University and medical degree from The University of Iowa Medical School.
• He completed his internal medicine training at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan and completed his rheumatology fellowship at the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics.
• Dr. Rettenmaier is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Rheumatology and the Rheumatology Association of Iowa.
• He also is certified by the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.
• Dr. Rettenmaier is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is also an adjunct faculty member for the Mercy Residency program.

Outside of the clinic he enjoys spending time with his wife and adult children. He is an enthusiastic supporter of collegiate sports.
